A Short Guide for Potential Amusement Park Goers

I just got home from Star City. I spent the day with some of my Emerald 2015 advisory class--Je-anne, Aubrey, Dindi, Meradel, Vinz, Daniel, Mihoko, Ruth, and Nash (Dindi's brother). Earlier I have predicted that not more than 10 students will join us. Hooray for predicting the future!

Originally, we planned to go to Enchanted Kingdom, but Star City seemed more geographically convenient. When I was young(er), it was our family's tradition to go to Star City. It is our parents' ultimate 'panakot' that if we won't behave, we will not be allowed to go to Star City. I believe that I am not afraid of heights and am even a daredevil because I have been exposed to all those nerve-wracking rides at such a young age. I just love the thrill of falling from a great height, knowing that you are safe.

(One thing I can't really stand is the horror walk of anywhere. I'm afraid of ghosts, okay. I'm a scientist and I am afraid of ghosts. I don't have to explain myself.)

Anyway, for those of you who are planning to go to Enchanted Kingdom or Star City and maximize the experience, here are some tips I have gathered from the annual visits to amusement parks:
1) Wear closed shoes. It doesn't have to be close toed, but it has to be closed so that when you are flying up there or running down a horror walk, you won't lose your footwear. It is not advisable to wear heels or wedge.
2) Bring an extra set of clothes, or at least an extra shirt. There are rides which involve water splashing, so it's better to be prepared. And you might want to change your sweat-soaked shirt after a bumpy ride. :) A face towel or hanky would also come in handy.
3) Wear comfortable clothes. I have observed that many girls come with dates (or are looking for dates) so they are dressed to kill. But you might want to save that sexy outfit for a casual dinner. Remember that you will be flying for some time. We don't want to give a peep show to those who are in queue, right?
4) Do not bring bulky bags and leave most of your gadgets at home. Pickpockets frequent amusement parks because the distractions are everywhere. And there are rides which will require you to leave your bags, so it's a lot of hassle to have a big bag. A sling bag would be perfect.
5) Go to the outdoor rides first. If it's a good weather, try the outdoor rides first so that in case it rains, you have already experienced these rides. The best rides are almost always placed outdoors because the higher the elevation is, the more fun it would be. ;)
6) Avoid going to amusement parks during peak seasons. Unless you have a thing for long lines, pick a date far from peak seasons such as holidays, Christmas break, and summer break. The same goes for peak hours. Start early so you really have time to try all the rides.
7) Go with non-kill joy friends. Enough said.

As for the monetary contribution, hmmm, let's see. I spent 460.00 for a ride-all-you-can ticket + 1 game of laser tag. I also spent an additional of 120.00 for the Snow World, about 200.00 for food and drinks (meryenda, dinner, cotton candy, and lots of drinks). Since I live near Star City, I only spent 28.00 going there. So it's roughly 700 to a thousand pesos. It is a bit pricey so I made every peso count. :) We were there from 4pm to 12 midnight.

It has been a fun and nostalgic day. For eight hours, I was a child again. :)

Sembreak ends in 5 hours. :(

Goodbye, Multiply. Hello, Blogspot!

I thought Multiply was forever.

Now I know it's not.

They're shutting down the social networking facet of Multiply to give way to the Marketing side. Well, whatever. At least I was able to salvage my blogs (or most of them, at least). I think some of my Multiply posts were not exported. Oh, well.

Technology.

It took me hours to set up this new blog account. It will take a while to get to used to this new home. Acclimatization period. I don't know (and I don't care) if anyone would care to read this blog account. I just need to spill my thoughts from time to time.

For now, it's good night.

So long, Multiply. And cheers, Blogspot.

"Forever is not enough"

This is the story my eventful Thursday (August 13, 2009).

Tapos minsan pa nga free day sa 153.1 (1-4).

But no. Nung Thursday...Bawing bawi.

Kwento:
7:30am ang experiment. Pero 7.30am ay nasa bahay pa ako. So late ako.

Pag-akyat namin, sakto. Nakita namin si Rainier, nag-open ng isang locker...at may nahugot siyang mahabang rubber tubing. PUSSYCAT!!!! E kung naghanap pala kaya muna sya. Hahaha.

HAHAHAHAHA. Parang rocket launch! So cool. At nagtakbuhan kaming lahat habang sumisigaw nang: "Ahhhhhhhh!!! Ma'am! Ma'am!". At walang may gusto magpatay ng hot plate. Haha.

Infairness, nabuo pa rin ang sabon. ('yun yung tina-try namin i-synthesize). Kamote. E pa-reflux reflux pa sila for at least 30 minutes. Pasasabugin lang pala 'yung setup e. Instant synthesis. Hahaha.

Tapos gumagawa na kami ng sabon the other way. Grapefruit flavor, carwash scent. Haha. So cool. Bumubula naman siya. At ang cool ng "hard-to-reach-area-specific" na sabon. Hahaha. Inside joke. Resulta? Luminis yung metal mold! Nakagawa kami ng instant metal detergent. Hahaha.

Nasagad namin ang oras. Past 10am na kami nakaawas. Naglunch from 10-11.30. Tapos Archaeo2. Holy Smokes. So na-late ako sa 153.1. Potek. So goodbye 10 points.

Yung MT, may phenol involved, so bawal sila lumapit. SOBRANG haba ng procedure! Napaka-raming dapat i-thouroughly dry. Bestfriends na kami ng dryer. Bwiset. 3pm na, hindi pa kami tapos mag-set up. Tapos semi-basag pa yung condenser namin. To the rescue na nga sina Sir Thomas at Sir Shem dahil sa super abysmal behavior ng dalawang experiment.

May class ako ng 4pm-5.30. So nagpaalam na akong umalis. Haha. But no..Andun pa nga sila after ng Math55 ko.Haha.

Naawa naman ako sa min. Haha.

Yehey. Salamat sa inyo!!

Haggard!

PS. All throughout this time, hindi tumigil si Daben sa kanyang Phoenix mode. Haha!
"NASAN 'YUNG PHOENIX?"

Adik.

Shit happens = Chem happens

WARNING: This blog entry is highly biased!

Well. Relatively good mood naman ako ngayon.

Bakit? Dahil sa bowling. I have proven that bowling is a pure game of chance just as poker is. Hahaha. Mahabang kwento. Pero hindi 'law' yung sinabi ko. So sa mga professional bowlers, no offense meant. It's just a stupid consolation for myself.

Anyway, I got my first strike for my PE2 class dahil nabitawan ko ang bola stupidly. Haha. Imagine that. Then I spared next. And then, I got eggs for my last three frames. Haha. Bano lang talaga ako.

AT! Wala lang. <insert nonstop ramblings about my crush here>

At, in between my turns, I was cramming 153.1 review. I find it ironic to review the reports I made. (My group made, actually ) Hanggang sa jeep todo cram. Haha. Late pa nga ako nakapagstart ng exam.

Tapos 'yun. Ang exam. Sobrang. *inhale* Grabe *sigh*. Kulang...

Bakit two hours lang?! I'm not saying that had it been 7 hours, I would have aced the exam. Maybe, if it had been 7 hours, I would have just bled to death. Haha. Pero kahit man lang sana 3 or 4 hours...baka sakaling may mas magandang pinatunguhan ang buhay ng mga punong nasayang para mag-produce ng bluebook.

Wala akong nasagot completely sa Real Gas problem solving. And to think, yun ang report namin.

Including theories, reagents, reactions, methodology, graphs, calculation, derivation.

Ang tanong: May maipapasa kaya ako. Haha. I do accept the fact that I should have studied more. Mea culpa, mea culpa..mea maxima culpa. Sinusubukan ko talagang maging GC. I need to convince myself more.

But my bitchy self can't help but think: "Ano ito, pampalubag loob?! Haha.

But that's life. Shit happens. Chemistry happens.

'Pag tinatanong ako, "Bakit mo gusto ng Chem?"

Ang sagot:

Sino may gusto ng Chem?! Ako?! Noooooooooooo!!! I don't like Chem. I hate Chem. I'd rather do anything than study Chem!!!

But here I am. On my third year, and I am still in Chem. Sometimes, it is tempting to think of shifting out and transferring to BA European Languages Major in French Minor in German (I really like this course).

What makes me stay?

The challenge.
